What is Solid Corn Syrup?

Solid Corn Syrup are a dried mixture of saccharides obtained by partial hydrolysis of edible corn starch by food grade acids and/or enzymes. Solid Corn Syrup are derived from liquid corn syrup, a glucose-based sweetener. To manufacture Solid Corn Syrup, the corn syrup product is dehydrated until only a small percentage of water remains. The resulting product is a powder or granular form of glucose, with minimal liquid content. Therefore, Solid Corn Syrup is a dry version of corn syrup.

 

Applications of Solid Corn Syrup

Solid Corn Syrup can be used to increase food volume and prevent crystallization in baked goods and pastries. Enhance their stability; they can also promote food coloring and extend shelf life by locking in moisture and preventing the formation of ice crystals in products at low temperatures. In addition, they can improve the texture and sweetness of the food, ensure the consistent baking effect, and bring a delicious and soft taste.

Solid Corn Syrup are also occasionally applied in pharmaceutical purposes such as an excipient for vitamins and other pills.

Solid Corn Syrup provide a dry form of corn syrup, to provide formulating options when creating dry products such as powdered drink mixes and other dry food and pharmaceutical products.
